2. Many countries and different cultures also have stories about the
moon. Here's
a Native American story about how the moon, the sun and the stars were
created
.

"Long
ago, when the Earth was young and the sky was still dark, there
was an Indian chief
who had two sons. The youngest son was very sad that the sky was
always so dark. So he made a mask
out of wood and coal,
put it on his face and set
fire to it.
Every day
he travelled across the sky making it wonderfully light. At night
he slept below the horizon, and when he snored
sparks
flew into the air and made the stars.
The older
son became jealous
and to impress his father he also made a mask. At night when it
was dark he too travelled across the sky. This is how the moon,
the sun and the stars were created."
